Giant Papyrus (Cyperus Percamenthus)
Compact Giant Papyrus (Cyperus papyrus 'Pergamenthus') is a smaller-growing form of the classic papyrus, offering the same graceful, umbrella-like foliage in a more manageable size. Tall green stems are topped with feathery sprays that add texture, movement, and a tropical feel to ponds, water gardens, and container plantings. This vigorous marginal plant thrives in shallow water or consistently wet soil and makes an excellent vertical accent in aquatic landscapes.
Zone: 8–11 (can be overwintered indoors in colder climates)
Grows up to: 3–5 feet tall
Light Requirements: Full Sun
Planting Depth: Moist soil to 6 inches of water above the crown
An excellent choice for adding height and architectural interest without the massive size of traditional Giant Papyrus.
