How to Choose the Best Christmas Tree | Wishing Well, Medford
The right Christmas tree depends on your space, your ornaments, and how much fragrance you like. At Wishing Well, we offer four varieties, plus custom snow flocking, reusable stands, fresh wreaths, and cedar garland.
Our family’s Christmas tree tradition started in 1979 with Dennis’s high school senior project. We’ve been helping Southern Oregon families choose their trees ever since.
Compare Our Christmas Trees
Tree | What makes it a good choice |
Silvertip | Strong, widely spaced branches give larger and heavier ornaments room to hang. A good choice for an open, natural look. |
Douglas Fir | Soft needles, a full shape, and that familiar Christmas fragrance. Best decorated with lighter ornaments. |
Noble Fir | Sturdy branches support heavier ornaments, while blue-green needles and good needle retention make it a dependable all-around choice. |
Nordmann Fir | Soft, deep green needles, excellent needle retention, and a lighter fragrance for those who prefer a less noticeable scent. |
Measure Before You Visit
Measure your ceiling height and the width of your tree’s spot. Leave room for the stand and topper, and keep nearby doorways and walking paths clear.
A photo of your space can help us recommend the right size and shape.
Don't forget the added height of the tree stand. At Wishing Well, we offer a Reusable Rebar Christmas Tree Stand that adds about 4-6 inches of height.
Our sturdy rebar Christmas tree stands can be reused year after year. We install the stand for you, making setup at home easier. When the season is over, twist it off and save it for next Christmas.
How to Keep Your Tree Fresh
A fresh cut and consistent watering make the biggest difference.
Start with a fresh cut. Remove about half an inch from the trunk base before placing the tree in water.
Get it into water promptly. Keep the cut end submerged.
Check water daily. Trees can drink quickly, especially during the first few days.
Using tree preservative? Follow the mixing directions on the bottle.
Avoid heat. Keep your tree away from fireplaces, heaters, and heat vents.
Turn lights off before bed or leaving home.
For flocked trees, follow the care instructions we provide.
Custom Christmas Tree Snow Flocking
Snow flocking gives your tree a snowy finish and adds something different to your Christmas décor without replacing your ornaments.
Choose the coverage you prefer:
Light: A dusting of snow with plenty of green showing.
Medium: More snow coverage while keeping the branches defined.
Heavy: A fuller, snow-covered appearance.
It's best to add lights before flocking to create that soft glow against the flocked branches. You can do this yourself, or have one of our Christmas Magic specialists do it for you.
We also offer a crystal add-on for extra shimmer.
Ask us about flocking when choosing or pre-ordering your tree.
Fresh Wreaths and Cedar Garland
Finish your decorating with fresh Christmas wreaths and cedar garland from Wishing Well.
Measure railings and doorways before buying garland, allowing extra length for draping. Keep fresh greenery away from heat and open flames. Wreaths generally stay fresh longer in a cool, sheltered outdoor location than in a warm room.
